Volunteer With Better Work

Give back to your community with flexible opportunities to fit your schedule.

Volunteer Opportunities

Offered through our BETTER WORK program, these volunteer opportunities are more than just a chance to join our team of helping hands—they’re a chance to empower individuals to step into a future filled with confidence, purpose, and clear guidance toward a fulfilling career path.

Take a look at the volunteer roles and their job responsibilities:

Champion Volunteer

This role commits to a journey with a Jobs for Life (JFL) student for a 2 to 6 month period to provide friendship, support, guidance, assistance and a sense of community that will help the student complete the course and overcome employment barriers. In addition, they are responsible for tracking and reporting student progress through the post JFL follow-up period.

Focused Skill Coach Volunteer:

BETTER WORK skill coaches provide one-on-one coaching to individuals who need assistance with an employment related skill such as career assessment or resume development. Focused skill coaches play a key role in empowering individuals on their path to finding and maintaining better work by offering tailored support in areas that directly impact a client’s ability to secure employment both now and in the future.

Tools & Resources

As a volunteer, you will learn about the expansive resources already available in our community. You will also help provide valuable feedback on how we can better these resources to meet the needs around us.

Training

Before you start, you will receive free training on how to build trustful relationships as you guide others on their journey to achieve their goal. Training is targeted to your role. Ongoing free development opportunities may also be available.

Community Makes the Difference

BETTER WORK serves as a hub for Jobs for Life in our communities. We partner with churches and nonprofit organizations, provide administrative tools, and train up leadership to host classes designed to ignite hope and transformation in the lives of graduates.

Our program also engages nonprofit and business partners who bring their experience into the classroom.

How You Can Help

Jobs for Life is only successful when offered in community with others. We need volunteers in the classroom to walk with participants as they grow their skills and examine the behaviors that have impacted their life’s journey. Every class is a beautiful learning experience and an opportunity for self-improvement for both participants and volunteers.

As a Jobs for Life Champion or Facilitator, you will bring friendship, support, gentle guidance, and sense of community needed for participants to overcome their personal barriers to employment.
